purpose: to compare the results of two different methods of frontalis suspension using fascia lata in congenital ptosis. methods: in a randomized clinical trial, double triangle sling was compared with single triangle sling using fascia lata. eight patients with unilateral and 11 patients with bilateral congenital ptosis were randomly assigned for each procedure. results: there was no statistic...

We determine the possible eigenvalues of elliptic matrices A,B, C in PU(2, 1) satisfying ABC = 1. This is done by describing geometrically the image of a certain momentum map for the (non-compact) group action of PU(2, 1) by conjugation on C1 × C2 where C1 and C2 are fixed elliptic conjugacy classes in PU(2, 1). Surprisingly, this image is not always convex, rather it is the union of one, two o...

The paper is focused on how chaotic patterns, occurring in nature, might be used by biological 7 organisms to perform computations. This issue is investigated in the context of neural systems. As a simple model of chaotic patterns, the world of Sierpinski triangles is analysed. The paper 9 introduces the Sierpinski basis functions and the Sierpinski brain, which is able to perform classi)cation...

The definition of classical holomorphic function spaces such as the Hardy space or Dirichlet on Hartogs triangle is not canonical. In this paper we introduce a natural family which includes some weighted Bergman spaces, candidate and space. For study L p mapping properties Szeg? projection respectively, whereas for prove it isometric to bidisc.

A graph Γ is symmetric if its automorphism group acts transitively on the arcs of Γ, and s-regular if its automorphism group acts regularly on the set of s-arcs of Γ. Tutte (1947, 1959) showed that every cubic finite symmetric cubic graph is s-regular for some s ≤ 5. We show that a symmetric cubic graph of girth at most 9 is either 1-regular or 2-regular (following the notation of Djokovic), or...

Metric spaces provide a framework for analysis and have several very useful properties. Many of these properties follow in part from the triangle inequality. However, there are several applications in which the triangle inequality does not hold but in which we may still like to perform analysis. This paper investigates what happens if the triangle inequality is removed all together, leaving wha...

Topology-based methods have been successfully used for the analysis and visualization of piecewise-linear functions defined on triangle meshes. This paper describes a mechanism for extending these methods to piecewise-quadratic functions defined on triangulations of surfaces. Each triangular patch is tessellated into monotone regions, so that existing algorithms for computing topological repres...

In the paper, we clarify some relations between solutions to star-triangle equation via gauge/YBE correspondence. We consider two relation in terms of Euler's gamma function. derive these from reduction certain basic and hyperbolic hypergeometric integral identities. These identities can be interpreted as equality supersymmetric partition functions a specific three-dimensional N=2 dual theories.
